What is your favorite type of hunting?
Hunting mature bucks like this one with a bow is a challenge.
Do you prefer using a bow or gun? My favorite hunting by far is whitetails with a bow. There is nothing that compares to killing a mature whitetail buck with a stick and string. I killed a nice buck in Illinois a few years back a since the I haven’t hunted deer with a gun. Not that I don’t like getting after whitetails with a gun, I just love the challenge of having to get the whitetail so close and in range and being able to get drawn back without being detected. The pure adrenalin rush of having to get so close to your game is unmatchable in my book. Although I do plan on getting a muzzle-loader and giving that a try sometime in the near future.
I shot this buck with my favorite gun, a Browning A-bolt 270.
Deer season is all but over here in Kansas and I am already looking ahead to next hunting season. I am going to do everything I can to try to increase my odds for next season of getting my biggest buck ever with a bow. I believe it is never to early to start preparing to increase your odds of getting that buck of a lifetime, so I will start This year I had a small window of opportunity due to two shoulder surgeries one before the season and one after the season started. So I killed a buck that although I was very happy with but I probably would have held out if not for the pending surgery in early December. There was some doubt about if I would even be able to even be able to hunt at all, so I was very blessed to be able to take a big 11 pointer in mid October.This was my first year hunting with my new Mathews Z7 and I absolutely love it. The Mathews Z7 far exceeded my expectations.
